Copthorne Classics has a vacancy for a proactive, enthusiastic classic car technician with 3-5 years experience. If you’ve worked on Jaguar, Aston Martin or Lotus classics that’s a definite bonus, but we are open to applications from anyone passionate about British classic cars – and with experience at a specialist in older vehicles.

We are a growing, family-run business based in West Sussex and offer excellent career progression for the right candidate. Our work is frequently featured in automotive media and we are active on the classic car show circuit, so there are plenty of chances to show off your high standard of work.

We’re looking for:

• Strong understanding of classic engines: especially overhead cam

• Experience of Jaguar XK engines ideal (but not essential)

• Good understanding of carburation: downdraft, sidedraft, plus twin and triple set-ups

• Experienced with SU, Stromberg, Weber and Dellorto

• Competent with electronic and points-based ignition systems

• Good experience of manual transmissions and differentials

• Competent with electrics and wiring

• Good understanding of imperial measurements

The work will involve:

• Disassembly & restoration of components

• Reassembling sub assemblies and refitting components to bodyshells

• Servicing, maintenance and repair, plus light restoration work

• Some diagnostic work

• …but no bodywork skills are required

The salary range will be £25k-£35k depending on experience.
