“A father-and-son Jaguar and Aston Martin specialist dedicated to restoring – and improving – the marques.”
— Classic & Sports Car magazine, August 2022
A proper family business.
Copthorne Classics is run by father-and-son team, supported by staff trained at Bicester Heritage. We specialise in classic British marques including Jaguar, Aston Martin and Lotus.
Co-founder and head engineer Lee Davies trained for years under the wing of a lifelong Jaguar specialist, originally a factory engineer. Lee is unique among a new generation of classic car engineers in that he learned his craft the traditional way. With his father, he now runs a small team of talented engineers who can offer services ranging from an oil change to engine rebuilds and full restorations.
Copthorne Classics is also developing a series of restomod upgrades for Jaguar classics, specialising in XJ and XJ-S models. Our in-house engine building facilities are equipped for performance conversions of both six- and 12-cylinder vehicles – we have completed fast road conversions on vehicles including Jaguar Mk2 3.8, E-type V12, XJC and Daimler Sovereign. Ask us about our 300bhp Series 2 XJ6 prototype currently in development using a fully rebuilt block with high compression pistons, modified cylinder head and camshafts plus triple SU carburettors.
We also have strong experience in engine tuning for non-Jaguar models such as Lotus (including several Twin Cam applications), Aston Martin, MG and Triumph. A recent 1360cc Morris Minor conversion was featured in a short film by Bicester Heritage.
